Our Managing Director
As we trade through 2009 there is obviously continued concern regarding the UK’s economic environment and the difficulties being faced by the Retail Sector. Although there would appear to be some level of stability slowly returning to our customers, the political turmoil in Government at present doesn’t exactly add to general confidence.
Our message to customers and staff tends to involve the word ‘steady’ in terms of trading. We consider ourselves fortunate in that a large proportion of our client base, whilst not recession proof, do exhibit aggressive behavior in a down-turn to gain market share and remain profitable. Our experience so far has been that there is huge pressure to reduce cost although there is a good level of enquiries and live projects. We do not expect the phenomenal year that Antone traded through in 2007, however, we are quietly confident that 2009 could possibly be better than our cautious budgets.
We very much appreciate the conditions that all of our customers are coping with and applaud their difficult but necessary decisions relating to cutting costs and maintaining market share. We are doing everything we can to assist our core clients and provide support to the steady flow of new companies that we are starting to trade with.
As always, Antone is all about people and we would like to thank the efforts of all personnel for the last 12 months. The company continues to succeed by protecting the reputation for quality of service and manufacture. This is due entirely to the attitude of all employees.
We would like to wish all our staff, customers, suppliers and contacts continued good fortune and would ask the Government to keep interest rates at 0.5%, inflation below 2% and drastically reduce unemployment – maybe too much to ask for!
